As the literary journal that founded the lyric essay, Seneca Review continues to publish forward-thinking essays, poems, translations, and hybrid forms that experiment with genre.

Sentence is dedicated to publishing prose poems and reviews and essays about prose poetry. We are intersted in traditional prose poems as well as work that extends our conceptions of what the prose poem can be.

The Sewanee Review is America's oldest continuously published quarterly. Only erudite work representing depth of knowledge and skill of expression is published here - high quality fiction, poetry, essays, and reviews.

We like fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual arts that are original, complex, and thought-provoking. Avoid gimmicks for gimmicks' sake, be crafty, and take risks! 

Shot Glass Journal is an on-line poetry journal devoted to short poetry. Where other poetry journals publish poems of various lengths and forms, Shot Glass focuses on both free verse and form poetry of 16 lines or less. We believe in fostering emerging talent as well as publishing well established poets. Why only short poetry? It is far more difficult to capture a message in fewer words and still have an effect on a reader. Shot Glass is dedicated to those poets who have much to say in the fewest words possible. As William Shakespeare wrote in Hamlet, "...brevity is the soul of wit..."

We don't use specific guidelines or themes in selecting poems or stories for the Sierra Nevada Review. We're open to many things, especially images and characters that haunt our imagination. We prefer flash fiction to longer prose works.

Taking its as its thematic metaphor the ancient Silk Road, a conduit between East and West and highway of intense cultural exchange, publishes fine fiction, nonfiction, interviews, poetry, and images that capture the intensity, fluidity and tension of locations—inside us and in the world.

Welcome to the Sixers Review. We are a biannual online magazine that publishes six authors per issue. We accept all kinds of work, Poetry, Fiction, Non-fiction, the Occasional Photograph and everything in between. We try and keep it to three Stories and three poems, but again, there are exceptions. What we look for is "Craft."

Slant publishes well-crafted work (formal or free verse) from all parts of the U.S. and beyond. While open to experimentation, its editorial readers generally prefer plainsong: concrete, resonant, accessible poems written by humans for other humans.

Slice, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit print magazine, is the brainchild of two book editors with a firsthand view of how difficult it is for new authors to have their voices heard. We aim to spark a dialogue between emerging and established writers. In each issue, a specific cultural theme becomes the catalyst for short stories, articles, interviews, and poems from renowned writers and lesser known voices alike. We're looking for anyone with a fresh voice and a compelling story to share--basically any work that really knocks our socks off.

Slush Pile Magazine is committed, in this twilight of literary culture, to literary culture. Home to remarkable pieces of short fiction and poetry, profiles of noteworthy persons and/or projects, and an element of humor. Intellectual, but approachable.

Submit well written stories, narratives, and poems that tell stories. We are looking for writers who express a clear point of view that challenges our imaginations or perspectives.
