Tucky.jpgThe Montucky Review

The Montucky Review is an online poetry publication that seeks well crafted poetry from both established and novice writers alike. We hope to be the antithesis of all the snootiness and pretension that dominates the poetry publishing world. That is not to say that we will publish everything that comes our way, we won't. Well established writer or first submission, you have an equal chance of being published or rejected. We look for poetry we like, with "like" being very subjective, indeed.

the prompt

As writers and instructors of writing, we have all found ourselves with work that came from workshops, random exercises, and desperate attempts to find our voices. Unfortunately, anything that looks too much like it came from an exercise, prompt, or other such “mechanical” source gets relegated by editors to that pile with a sticky note on top that says “too workshoppy.” That is why we created the prompt. The prompt is the place for all levels of writers to have an opportunity to publish, as well as for a community of writers to find new ways to expand creative writing horizons.

Quarterly West

Quarterly West looks for writing that is: Exciting. Challenging. Risky. Unpredictable. And Different. I could say what different means, but then we might receive a slew of submissions that are all different in the same way. Different will be victim to form—to the “fragment sentence,” “non-linear plot,” and “hybrid genre”. Different will be slave to space, time, story and moment. This does not seem the way to open the door for Different.
