SmokeLong Quarterly

The SLQ aesthetic remains an ever-changing, ever-elusive set of principles, but it most likely has to do with these kinds of things: *language that surprises *narratives that strive toward something other than a final punch line or twist *pieces that add up to something, oftentimes (but not necessarily always) meaning or emotional resonance *honest work that feels as if it has far more purpose than a writer wanting to write a story

SNReview

For 18 years we have operated with limited financial and personnel resources. We have not had time to re-evaluate the reason for the publication's existence. We are now. In the mean time, the publication is in hiberation. The website will remain posted and print editions still are available from Lulu.com, our on-demand printer.

So to Speak, A Feminist Literary Journal

So to Speak, founded in 1993 by an editorial collective of women MFA candidates at George Mason University. So to Speak has served as a space for feminist writing and art for nearly twelve years. So to Speak publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art that lives up to a high standard of language, form, and meaning. We look for work that addresses issues of significance to women's lives and movements for women's equality and are especially interested in pieces that explore issues of race, class, and sexuality in relation to gender.
