Adanna, a name of Nigerian origin, pronounced a-DAN-a, is defined as “her father’s daughter.” Women over the centuries have been defined by men in politics, through marriage, and most importantly, by the men who fathered them. Women are still bound by complex roles in society, often needing to wear more than one hat or sacrifice one role so another may flourish. While this journal is dedicated to women, it is not exclusive, and it welcomes our counterparts and their thoughts about women today. Submissions should reflect women’s issue or topics, celebrate womanhood, or shout out in passion. |

American Athenaeum is a cultural magazine that features fiction, poetry, essays, opinion, author book reviews, and other literary contributions. Each journal explores the world of words like a patron explores a museum—by offering a view of the past, right up until the present. We consider this journal to be a museum of artistic endeavors, filled with cultural appreciation and stories that not only teach, but demonstrate the frailty of the human condition. |

BlazeVOX is a haven for undervalued writers to convene with readers worldwide, delivering the contemporary through books-in-hand and ebooks-in-a-minute. Articles of submission depend on many criteria, but overall items submitted must conform to one ethereal trait, your work must not suck. This put plainly, bad art should be punished; we will not promote it. However, all submissions will be reviewed and the author will receive feedback. We are human too. Please send your work. |

Burner is that girl. She's witty, pretty, and doesn't dumb herself down. By day, she's a kindergarten teacher and by night, dances gogo. Inspired by fellow revolutionaries from John Lennon to Virginia Woolf, she's a muse and amusing, compelling and never complacent. The Burner girl gets hot and bothered by the Marquis de Lafayette, aspires to redefine the zeitgeist like Nietzsche, and provokes thought like Margaret Atwood. |

The Doctor T. J. Eckleburg Review is a literary and arts journal housed at The Johns Hopkins University, M.A. in Writing Program. Our aesthetic is eclectic, literary mainstream to experimental. We appreciate fusion aesthetics including magical realist, surrealist, metarealist and realist works with an offbeat spin. We value character-focused storytelling and language and welcome both edge and mainstream with punch aesthetics. We like humor that explores the gritty realities of world and human experiences. |

EOAGH: A Journal of the Arts is concerned with reading as a process, the productive chaos of investigative poetic work. These acts of attention explore the close listening inherent not just in writing but also in being written. Inspired by Whitman's assertion that "Reading is a gymnast's act," we see readings as embodied, interdisciplinary responses that engage with one's environment through ekphrasis, phenomenology, queering, conceptual multiplicity, density and difficulty. |

We look for writing that pushes the boundaries of language, for writers who would never be clichéd enough to use the phrasing “pushes the boundaries of language.” We believe that strong writers are mindful of the words they hire to represent them and understand that infinitudes can be built or lost within the slippery confines of the sentence. We are tired of stories and poems that don’t play for keeps. We are more inclined toward the outlandish, toward the unsayable, toward the spectacle. |

Milk Sugar is a literary journal that was formed with the creative writer in mind. We want to provide a forum where writers feel free to express their creative side in an environment that actually promotes creativity and not the status quo. Milk Sugar is not meant to be your typical literary journal, hence the name. We want the erotic, the fantastical, the existential, the dirt, the grime and most of all the ultimate beauty that is a well written piece. Allow us the privilege of finding out who you are through your work. Represent yourself well. |

We obey no genre and take anything from limericks to fantasy to genres yet invented. Our key desires are originality, accessibility and quality. We like work with a point, something to say or some sort of inner majic that gives greater meaning to the pretty words and thrilling plots. That said, we're not really sure what we’re looking for until we've seen it, so give us a try. Words in their purest form both cut and repair, sometimes simultaneously. We believe that words have not been given the credit they are due often enough. Scissors and spackle wants to slip back into the power of words and is searching for artists who string them together in ways that make us remember. We are not concerned with what box or title an artist's work fits into, or how many words it takes them to get there. We are only interested in the destination. We are interested in fiction without boundaries. |
