Wordgathering provides a venue for those whose talent in writing poetry converges with an interest in the growing field of disabilities literature. We seek writing that counters stereotypes of disabilities. In addition to poetry, we publish books reviews, literary essays, fiction and art related to disability.
Tips From the Editor
We do not use "inspirational" work or stories of overcoming. We seek poetry, fiction and literary essays that make a genuine contribution to the field of disability literature. We appreciate poetry that provides fresh insights about what a disabilities perspective can provide and avoids clichés. Please read sample poetry before submitting. We discourage submissions by pdf file or other formats that can not be interpreted by a screen reader. Audio files accompanied by print are encouraged.
