automatic reply notices Can't Post

All of a sudden I'm no longer receiving an e-mail reply whenever there's a reply to a thread I'm watching and/or to one I've replied to (and have indicated that I wish to be notified when a subsequent reply is posted); in short, my settings haven't changed, but, the automated e-mails are no longer being sent. Anyone else finding this to be true? Any ideas on how to rectify it? Thanks.

Re: [typeWpersonality] automatic reply notices Can't Post

I just look at everything that's posted, so I've never had an automatic reply. There isn't that much action on the board so I can't keep up with it -- as someone else around here said recently.

Re: [pongo] automatic reply notices Can't Post

Curiously, I did receive this e-mail notice--the first one in the previous 7 or 8 posts--so, maybe the system switched back to normal mode or I sacred it silly by asking?

Yes, I did say that (probably more than once) because I'm not on the site every day, and it's a good way to be alerted to when something new is there that'd likely be of interest--i.e., I'm trying to be lazy and still stay in touch! Thanks.

I definitely didn't make any changes to the watched thread code, so it shouldn't have changed.

I do occasionally get bounces from Google, but I generally don't track them if the message indicates a temporary problem. I'll try to keep an eye on them to see if your address pops up.

Re: [jason] automatic reply notices Can't Post

Thanks, jason. It's definitely not a critical matter. For whatever reason, most of the threads seem to generate the automated replies; there are just a few (thus far) that don't, for whatever reason, behave properly. I can live with it--computers! I appreciate you weighing-in on this. Cheers!

Re: [jason] automatic reply notices Can't Post

The more I muse over this, it appears to me as though it's the "watch thread" feature that's not working--as opposed to the "send e-mail notification on reply" for a response to a particular post. I'm of course assuming that the "watch thread" function notifies someone whenever someone has replied to that thread? If not, then I'm not sure what the function of that button is for, which may account for why I thought something wasn't working.

Maybe it's like the "close door" button on an elevator; it's there so you can feel as though you're doing something.

Re: [typeWpersonality] automatic reply notices Can't Post

I'm now convinced that the "Watch thread" button does nothing--or, if it does something, I can't figure out what it is (other than to create a list of "watched threads"). It definitely doesn't notify the user of anything, at least not in my case. When I go to my "watched threads" list, it indicates that an e-mail notification is sent out whenever anyone replies to that thread, but, in my case, that's just not happening, period. Maybe jason knows?

Re: [typeWpersonality] automatic reply notices Can't Post

I do now.

There was a bug in the forum subscribe function that's been lurking forever. It appears to be fixed now, so e-mails should begin to flow. Unfortunately, may include some very old subscriptions. I'm going through the database now, to see if I can manually weed out the ones that are still likely to be valid.
