Re: [fancynancy] UVA Can't Post

Thanks! I applied to 15 schools... most of the ones everyone applies to. I got in to Purdue and University of Washington and was waitlisted at UVA, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt. I wonder when we'll hear anything from UVA...

Re: [corkeyb33] UVA Can't Post

Just got an email from UVA saying that they sorted out their final list of poets this morning and that I'm not on it. Oh well, I was still planning on going to Purdue anyway!

I was on the waitlist at UVA for poetry too and got the same email saying I was not in. I was also geographically bound and only applied to places near DC. I will be going to Hollins in the Fall (which I was already planning on). Have you made a final decision?

Congrats on Hollins! It sounds really exciting. I'm going to go to Purdue- I accepted the offer about a month ago, but was possibly maybe holding on to some hope for UVA. I think Purdue will be the right place for me though. Best of luck at Hollins! We should be happy that we were even waitlisted at UVA, in my opinion.

I got my rejection from them today, definately the worst of the bunch of rejection letters, cheap paper, horrid font, and pixelated logo! Oh well. . .

Re: [Mr. Scratch] I emailed to check my status... Can't Post

I just received my snail mail rejection letter for fiction. What softened the blow a little bit was a nice handwritten message from the program director at the bottom of the page. Has anyone else had this experience with UVA?

UVA Can't Post

How old are the students who get in (?) is my question. I'm a poet. 19 yrs old. And it seems that the people who get acceptance letters are over 25.

Whatever, I'll wait anyway! UVA is the program I want in the long run.

Can anybody who has insider-status know anything about the age of those who are in the program right now?

Thanks much!

Right now the age range is 17 to at least 31. There may be a few people older than that.

If they are talented and gifted and already have a bachelor's degree at that age.
