Under the Volcano Master Classes and Retreat

The 10th annual Under the Volcano Master Classes and Retreat will be held from January 4 to January 12, 2013, in Tepoztlán, Mexico, a traditional village at the foothills of volcanoes approximately one hour from Mexico City. The conference features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as readings, excursions, time to write, and optional Spanish classes. The faculty includes poet Paul Muldoon; fiction writers Magda Bogin and Jessica Hagedorn; and creative nonfiction writer Betty Fussell. Tuition is $1,195. Housing is available for $35 to $70 per night. Submit a writing sample of 8 to 10 pages and a cover letter with a $50 registration fee. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
