The 15th annual Taos Summer Writers’ Conference was held from July 14 to July 21 at the Sagebrush Inn and Conference Center in Taos, New Mexico. The conference offered weekend and weeklong workshops in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and publishing, as well as readings, professional consultations, and a visit to the nearby D. H. Lawrence Ranch. The faculty included poets Amy Beeder, Joy Harjo, Hilda Raz, Luci Tapahonso, and Ouida Touchon; fiction writers Jonis Agee, Robert Boswell, Laura Brodie, John Dufresne, Pam Houston, Frank Huyler, Wally Lamb, Priscilla Long, Demetria Martinez, Daniel Mueller, Antonya Nelson, and Summer Wood; and creative nonfiction writers Stephen Benz, BK Loren, Emily Rapp, and Brent Spencer, as well as publishing professionals Elise McHugh (University of New Mexico Press), Allison Hunter and Alexis Hurley (Inkwell Management), Andy Ross (Andy Ross Agency), and editor Jane Von Mehren. Each workshop was limited to 12 participants. Tuition was $350 for a weekend workshop, $650 for a weeklong workshop, or $975 for both. Room rates ranged from $69 to $109 per day.
