A poem written in the 1960s by Syd Barrett, a founding member of the band Pink Floyd who died last July, was recently sold at auction in Cambridge, England, for £4,600 (approximately $9,250). The short poem, which Barrett wrote to his then girlfriend Viv Brans, included the lines "Little Twig isn't big / To you but she is to me" and was accompanied by a simple sketch of Brans. The two items were sold to a private collector.

Barrett had a relationship with the nineteen-year-old Brans for several months; she is now a sixty-one-year-old grandmother. The musician, artist (one of his paintings, also dedicated to Brans, was sold in February), and, apparently, poet died of complications from diabetes. He was sixty.

In 1975, years after Barrett had quit the band and began living as a recluse, his mind reportedly deteriorating from drug use, Pink Floyd recorded the album Wish You Were Here, which included "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," a song about Barrett written by Roger Waters.
