Description:	Momofuku, the New York Public Library, and Voice of Witness present "How to Be(come) an American," part of the 56th Street Round Table series. Each year, tens of thousands of refugees from all over the world, driven from their home countries by war, famine, violence or religious persecution, are granted entry into the United States. In a country whose foundation is built upon immigration, what are the experiences of those who will become the newest generation of Americans? Photographer Gabriele Stabile and journalist Juliet Linderman use their new book Refugee Hotel as a starting point for a discussion with Bob Carey (International Rescue Committee), moderated by Amy Starecheski (Columbia University) on identity and refugee rights in the U.S. Guests will continue the conversation with the speakers over lunch, prepared by chef paul carmichael and the má pêche team. Tickets are $35 and include lunch. Refugee Hotel is the newest book from Voice of Witness, a non-profit organization that uses oral history to illuminate contemporary human rights crises in the U.S. and around the world.
