Students may pursue a professional writing and/or pedagogy strand. Genres also include Writing for the Stage and Screen.

The Pedagogy strand prepares students to teach both creative writing and first year composition. Supported Teaching Practica are arranged locally by participating students and community service workshops teaching during the summer residency.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for up to thirty days before the start date of each residency; however, preference for admission will be given to students who apply by March 15 for the fall residency and September 15 for the spring residency.
