Author's Bio

Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy, Author and Folklorist, is currently Coordinator and Professor of English at Dillard University. See her poems and scholarly articles in The Southern Poetry Anthology, Louisiana Folklore Miscellany, Children’s Folklore Review, The Journal of Southern Linguistics, the Forward to Night Sessions: Poems by David S. Cho published by CavanKerry Press (2011), and Pan African Literary Journal. Some of Dr. Saloy’s articles on “Toasts,” and the Lore of Black children are available online at the Louisiana Division of the Arts Folklife website. Also, her completed screenplay entitled “Rocking for a Risen Savior” is in production. In October of 2006, The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia commissioned Mona Lisa Saloy to compose and perform a poem entitled “We” celebrating 2006 Liberty Medal Recipients: President William J. Clinton and President George H.W. Bush.
