Description: ABOUT THE COURSE | Magic realism (magical realism) is the perfect balance of literary fiction with fantastical elements. This is not fantasy and it’s more than realism. It is the sweet spot of literary fiction. 4 weeks. 4 new magical realist works written by you. Pre-register for a discounted price, limited time and availability. This online course begins the first Sunday of the month. You will have all week to complete your lessons and will not need to login at particular times during the week, but rather, when it is convenient to your schedule. You will have access to class, peer and instructor interaction throughout the week, as part of our comment and forum sections. This workshop is taught by Rae Bryant, author and creative writing faculty member at The Johns Hopkins University. ABOUT RAE BRYANT | Rae Bryant’s short story collection, The Indefinite State of Imaginary Morals, released from Patasola Press, NY, in June 2011. Her stories and essays have appeared in print and online at The Paris Review, Missouri Review StoryQuarterly, McSweeney’s, BLIP Magazine, Gargoyle Magazine, and Redivider, among other publications and have been nominated for the Pen/Hemingway, Pen Emerging Writers, and Pushcart awards. She has won awards in fiction from Whidbey Writers and Johns Hopkins as well as fellowships and scholarships from the Aspen Writers Foundation, the VCCA and Johns Hopkins to write, study and teach in Florence, Italy. She earned a Masters in Writing from Hopkins where she continues to teach creative writing and is editor in chief of the not for profit literary and arts journal, The Doctor T. J. Eckleburg Review. She has also taught in the International Writing Program at The University of Iowa.
