The International Writers’ and Artists’ Residency offers residencies of one to six weeks to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers in Val-David, Canada, 50 miles north of Montreal. Residents are provided with a private room and work space. The residency fee ranges from $200 Canadian (approximately $196) for one week’s lodging with a shared bathroom to $1,300 Canadian (approximately $1,276) for six weeks in a private apartment. Breakfast is included, but residents are responsible for other meals and transportation. Discounts are available for students and seniors. Residency applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Financial aid is available through the Jean Taranu Bursary, which covers half the fee for a monthlong residency. To apply for a bursary for an October or November residency, submit 10 pages of poetry or prose, a curriculum vitae, a project description, and two letters of recommendation by July 1.
