The 16th annual Green Mountain Writer’s Conference will be held from July 28 to August 1 at the lakeside Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden, Vermont, located eight miles northeast of Rutland. The program features workshops in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction, as well as craft classes, lectures, publishing discussions, and readings. The faculty includes poets Gary Margolis, Verandah Porche, and Elizabeth Powell; fiction writers Megan Mayhew Bergman, Jon Clinch, and Stephen Kiernan; and creative nonfiction writers Chuck Clarino and Yvonne Daley. Tuition is $500 before May 1 and $550 to $600 thereafter. Lodging is not included, but discounted rates are available at the Mountain Top Inn ($649 for four nights, which includes breakfast and lunch) and at area hotels and inns. A nonrefundable deposit of $75 is due within one week of registration; the balance is due by July 20. Partial scholarships are available. Submit a writer’s statement by May 1.
