Author's Bio

I grew up in the Twin Cities and received my MFA in fiction from Washington University in Saint Louis. I recently completed my doctorate in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Southern California. I’m currently revising my first novel entitled "History of Wolves," and I am also working on a study of simultaneity in narrative, called "The Usual Things in Unusual Places." I live with my husband in Ithaca, New York.

My stories published in Painted Bride Quarterly and Philadelphia Stories were both nominated for Pushcart Prizes. I am also the recipient of a 2013 McGinnis-Ritchie Award for Fiction, as well as a feminist grant from the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund. My collection of stories was a finalist for the 2014 Noemi Book Award for Fiction, the 2014 Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction with Sarabande Books, and the 2013 Tarrt First Fiction Award with the Livingston Press.
