Delillo and Roth Among Fifteen International Booker Finalists

Man Group, the sponsor of the Man Booker Prize, recently announced the nominees for the second Man Booker International Prize for Fiction, given every two years for a body of work by a fiction writer. Among the fifteen novelists on the shortlist are U.S. writers Philip Roth and Don DeLillo. The list also includes writers from Canada (Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, and Michael Ondaatje), Britain (Doris Lessing, Ian McEwan, and Salman Rushdie), Australia (Peter Carey), Ireland (John Banville), France (Michel Tournier), Israel (Amos Oz), Mexico (Carlos Fuentes), Nigeria (Chinua Achebe), and the Netherlands (Harry Mulisch).

The winner of the prize, which is worth £60,000 (approximately $118,600), will be announced in June. The judges are Nadine Gordimer, Elaine Showalter, and Colm Tóibín.
