Creative Writing Storytelling Internships (Unpaid)

Description:

Creative and imaginative interns sought with a flair for storytelling by an award-winning London toy company.
Your task is to brainstorm storyline synopses suitable for girls aged 3-9, based on a doll character (‘Lottie’).
We will provide you with a basic starting point – for example a description of a piece of clothing, or a description of a story setting, and your task is to create basic storylines with plot and character development.
The work will be carried out remotely by email and Skype, if need be, and there is no set timescale for this work.

Responsibilities:

There are no set rules, other than to be imaginative and create story synopses that could be suitable and most importantly FUN, engaging and enjoyable for girls aged 3-9 (core age 4-6).
As a brand, we have a strong social and ethical bias, so in practice this would mean you incorporating a strong ‘pro girl’ element in terms of characterisation. Beyond that basic requirement, the emphasis is on plot and storyline.
The synopses do not have to be refined or polished; a raw braindump and basic brainstormed outline is absolutely fine.

Requirements:

Creativity and imagination
A vivid memory of your own childhood; the emotions and thought processes that spurred you – especially the complexities of female friendships at a young age.
A love of reading as a child – particularly if you enjoyed reading the likes of Little Women (Jo), Famous Five (George), Nancy Drew, Hermione Granger, et al.
The work will be carried out remotely by email and Skype, if need be, and there is no set timescale for this work.

We very much look forward to hearing from you.
