The 24th annual Chicago Humanities Festival was held on October 13 and October 20, and from November 1 to November 10 at venues throughout Chicago and Evanston, Illinois. The theme for the 2013 festival was “Animal: What Makes Us Human.” Participants included poet Anne Carson, fiction writers Junot Díaz and Justin Torres, and creative nonfiction writers Katherine Boo and Susan Orlean. Tickets to most events ranged from $5 to $20; many events were free for students and teachers. Visit the website for more information.
