Caldera offers monthlong residencies from January to March to poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers. Located on 120 acres in the Central Cascades, 17 miles west of Sisters, Oregon, Caldera accommodates 5 to 12 residents at a time, each of whom receives a private cottage with sleeping loft, kitchenette, one community meal per week, and work space. There is no residency fee, but writers are responsible for their own transportation and meals. Participation in a public outreach activity, such as giving a reading or facilitating a workshop, is encouraged of each resident. Submit 10 poems, one novel chapter, a short story, or an essay of up to 20 pages, a project description, a résumé, and two letters of recommendation with a $35 application fee by June 15.
