Fellowships of $7,000 each are given biennially to fiction writers on the basis of the excellence of their recent work. Grants alternate yearly with fellowships in poetry and creative nonfiction. Writers who are at least 18 years old, have lived in New York State for at least two years prior to application, and are not enrolled in a degree-granting program are eligible. Submit six copies of a 20-page fiction manuscript by November 2. There is no entry fee. Visit the Web site for the required entry form and complete guidelines.
