Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts

The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts, whose overall mission is to support literary and visual artists in New York State through the Saltonstall Arts Colony and other programs, is looking to hire an Administrative Director. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the arts and familiar with the running of a small, privately endowed, non-profit foundation. The Administrative Director is responsible for managing the office and the colony. Duties include hiring and supervision of part time and seasonal staff; oversight of the annual residency application process: revise application forms, call for entries, coordinate jury process, notify winners and schedule sessions. Other duties include grant writing and administration; oversight of the creation and the publication of newsletters, the website, and general publicity concerns.

The Administrative Director must maintain a good rapport with the resident artists, arts agencies, community organizations, contractors, vendors, and the general public. The Administrative Director is the liaison, the face of the Foundation, and the link between the Foundation and the public. Experience in fundraising is desirable.

The Administrative Director serves at the discretion of the Board. The candidate must be personable with excellent people skills, respect and enjoy working with artists, understand the importance of the Foundation’s mission, and have an interest in advancing that mission. An employment commitment of three years is desirable.

Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000, commensurate with arts administration experience. This is a salaried position for 25 - 30 hours/week, being flexible throughout the year.

Familiarity with Mac OS is useful as well as knowledge of Microsoft Word, File Maker, In Design and Photoshop.
