Lauren K. Alleyne was born and raised in the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In 1997, she left home to attend St. Francis College in New York, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. In 2002, she graduated with a Masters degree in English with a specialization in Creative Writing from Iowa State University, and in January of 2006, was awarded the Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing (Poetry) and a Graduate Certificate in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Cornell University. She is currently the Poet-in-Residence and an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Dubuque, in Dubuque, IA.

Roy Bentley has received awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and the Ohio Arts Council. His poems have appeared in the Southern Review, North American Review, Prairie Schooner, Shenandoah, Pleiades, Blackbird, Sou’wester, American Literary Review and elsewhere. He has published nine chapbooks and three books of poetry, including The Trouble with a Short Horse in Montana, which won the White Pine Poetry Prize and was published by White Pine in 2006. His fourth collection, Starlight Taxi, is the winner of the 2012 Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry and will appear in 2013.
