A native of northeastern Pennsylvania, Vanessa Blakeslee studied creative writing at Rollins College and the University of Central Florida before earning the MFA in Writing at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her work has appeared in over one hundred publications in print and online, including The Southern Review, The Paris Review Daily, The Globe and Mail, Green Mountains Review, and Going Down Swinging. Her short fiction has been recognized by grants and fellowships from Yaddo, the Ragdale Foundation, The Banff Centre, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and her story "Shadow Boxes" won the inaugural Bosque Fiction Award. In 2013 she received an Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. She recently completed a novel set in South America is currently working on a linked collection of Italian-American stories.
