Update: November 20, 2008 - You may still apply as a workshop applicant or an auditor. A few workshop seats are available and we will accept applications until workshops are filled. High School Poetry Contest 2008

Palm Beach Poetry Festival, in partnership with Old School Square Cultural Arts Center in the heart of Delray Beach, Florida, will present the fifth annual festival in January 2009.  Six days of readings, lectures and workshops with readings and lectures open to everyone.

The festival offers orkshops and readings with Martin Espada, Kimiko Hahn, Laura Kasischke, Thomas Lux, Gregory Orr, Anne Marie Macari, Gerald Stern, Denise Duhamel, and Victoria Redel. We will welcome Florida poets Kelle Groom, and Michael Hettich, for a special reading. Winners of the High School Poetry Contest will receive their awards and Taylor Mali, and Lynne Procope, will perform at our late-night Coffee House event. Six days of readings, lectures, workshops, readings and lectures.  Admission to workshops is by application. 

Participants from across the country will work with some of America’s most widely recognized and renowned poets. The festival offers an extraordinary range of voices–voices and poetry that have made these poets winners and finalists for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Award in Literature of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Guggenheim and NEA Fellowships, the National Book Award, the Kingsley-Tufts Poetry Award, Pushcart Prizes and more.
